Course Aim
The CAT & Genny Operator Course (Essentials) is intended for those who operate, supervise or manage the use of Cable Avoidance Tools and Signal Generators in the workplace to avoid the dangers of underground services. There are no prerequisites for this course, although an understanding of underground services, utility plans and cable avoidance tools are an advantage.

The reasons for using locators, Safety, Plans, HSG47, The theory of locating services, Range of Modes, Power, Radio, Signal, AllScan, Depth Measurements, Strike Alert, An outside practical tracing session using utility plans, Theory and Practical assessments
Certifications
Delegates are required to demonstrate their competence by passing two separate tests. The tests consist of an associated knowledge test and a practical test of operating skills. Successful delegates will be awarded their Certificate of Basic Training which is valid for a period of 3 years

Associated Knowledge Test (5 open and 20 multiple choice questions) and Practical Test of Basic Operating Skills

Length of Certification: 3 Years
A Certificate of Training and ID card will be awarded to successful delegates, the course is accredited by NPORS.
